CONGRATULATIONS to Maureen Lawrence, the winner of the Mandela/De Klerk Gold Medallion competition! Maureen was absolutely delighted with her prize and sees it as a good start to 2010.

The Medallion which was minted by the Mint of Norway is worth around R10 000 and it is tribute to Mandela and De Klerk for the work they did in terminating apartheid and bringing justice to the nation. The one side is of Mandela and bears the inscription "A long walk to freedom" and the other side is the bust of De Klerk which says "To bring justice to everybody". Natalie stars at IPC Swimming Worlds

Natalie du Toit was the star for Team South Africa at the International Paralympic Committee’s Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven, Holland, which ended on the weekend, claiming six gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

Du Toit, who earlier this year was crowned the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability, ended on a high by dominating the opposition in the five-kilometre open water swim.

She completed the event in one hour and 22 seconds, finishing a massive six minutes and 26 seconds ahead of second-placed Elodie Lorandi of France.
