Our History
Jack and Julie Grieve began Vital, during the post-war 1940’s,in the Boland country town of Wellington. The Company established the Health Foods industry in South Africa and remains the market leader today, having moved first to Durbanville and finally to it’s current site at Lavender Lane, Kuilsriver, with it’s Head Office and manufacturing plant outside Cape Town, a sales and distribution depot in Johannesburg, Durban and Sydney along with agents in the Eastern Cape, Free State and numerous countries around the world.
The organisation is characterised by its lean, flat structure and pioneering entrepreneurial culture. We go to great lengths to employ dynamic individuals who can operate independently whilst aspiring to the objectives of the company and encompassing its values enshrined in the Mission Statement. To this end we believe in investing in safe and happy working environments where new recruits rapidly become part of the extended Vital Family.
Vital Health Foods was one of the founder members of the Health Products Association of South Africa, and today enjoys the market leader position in health product manufacturing in Africa, with branches throughout the world.
Vital is commited to constantly improving and extending its product range, in line with the latest scientific research, making better nutrition available as conveniently and inexpensively as possible. |
