Vital is South Africa’s leading vitamin and health supplement manufacturer. From humble beginnings as a small family business in 1947, has established itself as a household name for families who want healthy, happy lives.

As a soon-to-be fourth-generation business, Vital practices a no-compromise approach in giving their consumers what they need – complementary medicine, health supplements and foods that are filled with nutrition, easily accessible and convenient.

Producing premium quality, safe products is our top priority when it comes to the daily manufacturing, packaging and distribution of our wide range of complementary medicine, health supplements and foods.

Complementary Medicine & Health Supplement production quality

Raw materials are sourced from reputable suppliers, who are authorised through a world class sourcing approval process. Both raw materials and finished products are tested in our own laboratory for compliance to predetermined specifications.
Vital Health Foods manufacturing facility is GMP certified and licenced by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) to manufacture complementary medicines.

Food Production Quality

Only the best raw materials are sourced from reputable suppliers, who are authorised through a world class sourcing approval process. Vital Health Food manufacturing facility is British Retail Consortium (BRC) certified and applies a comprehensive Food Safety Management System based on these principles.

Together with our in-house team of experts, that consists of highly qualified chemists, pharmacists and dietitians, we make sure rigorous quality controls are applied to ensure the quality and safety of our products.

Vitals ‘ Food Safety & Quality Management System

GMP and BRC principles are applied to our facility as the overarching and chosen standards for our Food Safety & Quality Management System. Complementary Medicines include products in pharmaceutical dosage forms which contain vitamins, minerals, herbs, oils and other nutritional substances.

What is GMP?

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a system that ensures products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards. Our Complementary medicines manufacturing licence & GMP certification are subject to regular inspection by SAHPRA.

Who/What is SAHPRA?

The South African government has formed the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) to regulate and oversee the country ‘ s medical device and medicines markets. They ensure that health products available to the public are safe, effective and of good quality. SAHPRA is based on elements of South Africa ‘ s Medicines Control Council (MCC).

What is BRC?

The BRC Global Standard for food safety is an international Food Safety Management System standard which specifies the requirements for an effective food safety management system and provides assurance to customers that products are safe, legal and of high quality.
